What is the Universal Account Number?
The UAN is a 12-digit number allotted to every EPF member by EPFO (Employee Provident Fund Organization). This is a universal number and remains the same throughout the career of an employee.
Now, all the services of EPFO have been linked to the Universal Account Number. You can avail EPFO services if you have your UAN and it is activated. It provides online facility to the employees. Therefore, it is very important to know your UAN number.

How to know your UAN status online?
EPF members get their UAN number from their employer. Generally, most of the employers print it on the salary slips of their employees.
You can also check your UAN online through the EPFO portal by using these three.
1. EPF Member Id
2. Aadhaar
3. PAN
Steps to check your UAN status online
Here is the step by step process to check your UAN number using your Member Id, Aadhaar, or PAN.
1. First of all, visit the Unified member portal of EPFO.
2. Click on the “Know your UAN” link under “Important Links” on the right-hand side of the page. As shown in the image below.
3. You will be redirected to a new page. Here, you need to enter your registered mobile and a Captcha code. Click on the “Request OTP” tab. You will get the OTP (One Time password) on your registered mobile.
4. Enter the received OTP in the space provided to validate. Once the OTP validation is successful, click on “ok” tab to proceed.
5. Next page, you have to enter other details such as your name and date of birth as per the EPFO database. Next, you have to choose to enter either the Aadhaar, PAN, or Member Id. Enter the same in the space provided. Next step, enter the Captcha code and click on the “Show My UAN” Tab to proceed further.
6. Then the system will display a message on the screen as “Your UAN(s) is/are here”. It will display your UAN number on the screen. The screen looks like below.
7. That’s all! This way you will get it online.
