You should have a valid PAN to complete the registration process on income tax department’s website. To register yourself, follow the steps given below:

1. Visit the e-Filing website of the Income Tax Department (https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in).

2. Click on the “Register Yourself” button available on the right-hand side of the home page. The registration page will open.

3. Select the user type as “Individual” from the list of options such as Individual, HUF, and External Agency, etc. Click on the “Continue” button.

5. After verification, the Registration Form will open.

7. Here, you also need to select two secret questions and answers. These secret questions and answers will be used when you forget the password and you need to reset the password.

8. Click on the “Continue” button once all the details are entered in the registration form.

9. Next, you need to verify your registration to complete the process. You will receive a verification link in your email inbox and an OTP (One Time Password) by SMS on your mobile number.

10. Click on the verification link and enter the OTP received to successfully register yourself on the efiling website.

How to login to Income Tax efiling Website?

After successfully registering on income tax portal, you can now login to your account on the income tax website. You will need to enter your User ID (Your PAN card number is your user ID), password and captcha code to log-in to your account. 1. Visit the homepage of efiling portal (incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in).
