India’s largest public sector bank, State Bank of India (SBI), provides online banking facilities to its customers. You can use SBI net banking facility to avail of a plethora of services online. In this post, I am going to tell you how to reset SBI Profile Password.
OnlineSBI is the internet banking facility provided by the State Bank of India (SBI). To secure your account, SBI online banking access comes with two different passwords.
The first one is the login password (Used to login to SBI Net Banking). The second one is the profile password (Used to change the important settings in your account).

The SBI Net Banking Profile Password provides an additional layer of security to your account. Whenever you change any important settings in your account you need to authenticate with your Profile Password.
You must set a profile password when you log in to the SBI Internet banking account for the first time. You also select a hint question and give an answer. This hint question will be used to verify your identity if you forget it in the future.
Forgot SBI Profile Password
As you don’t need to use it daily, you might likely forget it. Therefore, if you have forgotten it, you can reset the same yourself. Just authenticate yourself with the hint question and answer that you had set during the first time login.
In case you don’t remember the hint question or the given answer, you can reset it using your ATM debit card or visit your branch. The below guide explains four different methods to SBI reset profile password.

There are four different methods to reset it in State Bank of India.

1. SBI Internet Banking User ID and password.
2. Mobile number registered with your SBI account.

How to reset SBI profile password using hint question answer?
If you have set the hint question during first time login, you can use this method to reset it.
1. Visit the SBI net banking website www.onlinesbi.com
2. Login into SBI online banking account using your login credentials.
3. Once logged in, click on the “My Accounts & Profile” tab on the main menu. Next click on the “Profile” tab from the dropdown option.
4. Now, select the “My Profile” option under the “Profile” tab.
5. Next, you will be asked to enter your password. Here click on the “Forgot Profile Password” option.
6. Now you will receive OTP on your registered mobile number. Enter the OTP in the space provided box and click on the “Submit” button.
7. A new page appears. Here you can see three different options. Select the “Using Hint Question Answer” option.
8. Enter the answer to the hint question. Click on the “Submit” tab.
9. A new page appears. Enter a new password. It must be a combination of letters in upper and lower case, numbers, and special characters.
10. Next, re-enter the new password.
11. Select a hint question and give an answer to the same.
12. Click on the “Submit” tab. Your new password will be set successfully.
How to change SBI Profile Password using ATM Debit Card?
If you have forgotten the hint question or the given answer, you can use this method to reset it.
1. Visit the SBI net banking website www.onlinesbi.com
2. Login into SBI online banking account using your login credentials.
3. Once logged in, click on the “My Accounts & Profile” tab on the main menu. Next click on the “Profile” tab from the dropdown option.
4. Now, select the “My Profile” option under the “Profile” tab.
5. Next, you will be asked to enter your password. Here click on the “Forgot Profile Password” option.
6. Now you will receive OTP on your registered mobile number. Enter the OTP in the space provided box and click on the “Submit” button.
7. A new page appears. Here you can see three different options. Select the “Approval through ATM Debit card” option.
8. Now, on the new screen, select the account number and click on the “Proceed” tab.
9. Next, select the active debit card and click on the “Confirm” tab.
10. On this page, enter the debit card details and click on the “Proceed” tab.
11. On successful validation, you need to re-login to reset it.
12. A new page appears. Enter a new password. It must be a combination of letters in upper and lower case, numbers, and special characters.
13. Next, re-enter the same to confirm the password.
14. Select a hint question and give an answer to the question.
15. Click on the “Submit” tab. Your new password will be set successfully.
How to reset Profile Password by visiting a Bank Branch
You can choose to reset it by visiting the bank branch if you have forgotten the hint question or the given answer or have never set a password.
1. Visit the SBI net banking website www.onlinesbi.com
2. Login into SBI online banking account using your login credentials.
3. Once logged in, click on the “My Accounts & Profile” tab on the main menu. Next click on the “Profile” tab from the dropdown option.
4. Now, select the “My Profile” option under the “Profile” tab.
5. Next, you will be asked to enter your password. Here click on the “Forgot Profile Password” option.
6. Now you will receive OTP on your registered mobile number. Enter the OTP in the space provided box and click on the “Submit” button.
7. A new page appears. Here you can see three different options. On this page, select the “By Visiting Branch” option.
8. On the new screen, enter branch code if you know it or click on the “Branch Locator” option. Select your branch and click on the “Submit” tab.
9. The system displays a Registration Form for a duplicate password.
10. Download and save the form on your computer. A reference number for the reset password request is displayed. Make note of the reference number.
11. Print the Registration Form and fill the same.
12. Submit the duly filled form at your branch and request for resetting it. Ensure to quote the reference number.
How to reset SBI profile password through SBI YONO App
The method to reset it using YONO App is also online. You can reset it using a hint question and answer or ATM debit card.
If you already registered in SBI YONO App then you can reset SBI forgot profile password instantly. If not then download and register in the app using your net banking login credentials.

Follow the below steps to change it using SBI YONO mobile app.
1. Open the app and log in using internet banking user Id and password or MPIN.
2. Open the “Service Request” option.
3. Next, click on the “Settings” option as you can see below the image.
4. In Settings, click on the “Reset Profile Password” option and proceed.
5. Next screen, click on the “Forgot Profile Password” option.
6. Here, you can see two options with which you can reset SBI Profile Password forget. The first option is to answer the hint question that you set during the first time login. The second option is to enter the ATM Debit Card number and ATM PIN.
7. Enter the correct details in the selected option and click on the “Submit” tab.
8. Now enter a new password of your choice. Click on the “Submit” tab.
9. This is how you can reset profile password in SBI using YONO ABI App.
10. This is the easiest way to reset when you forgot profile password SBI.
