How to download Form 16A, Interest Certificate from SBI Website?
Now downloading the Form 16A, Interest Certificate from SBI website is very easy. There is no need to visit the branch to get your interest certificate and TDS certificate. You can download the interest certificate and TDS certificates using SBI online banking facility.
What is Form 16A?
Form 16A is also a TDS (tax deducted at source) certificate. It is issued when TDS is deducted on income other than salary. In the case of banks, Form 16A shall be issued to you when your bank deducts TDS on your interest income from fixed deposits.
What is Interest Certificate?
An interest certificate is an annual summary of interest you have earned on your savings accounts and FDs with the bank during a financial year.
The interest certificate is important for you at the time of filing your income tax return (ITR).
How to download Form 16A from SBI website
SBI online banking is a free service for SBI customers. If you have registered for State bank of India Net banking then you can download Form 16A from the SBI website. Just follow the following steps to download Form-16A (TDS certificate) using the SBI Internet banking facility.
1. Visit the SBI Official website (www.onlinesbi.com).
2. Login to your account by using your username and password.
3. Once logged in, select the “TDS Enquiry” link under the “Fixed Deposit” tab.
4. Next webpage you can see three options
(a) TDS financial year,
(b) NRO TDS enquiry and
(c) Download
5. Here, under the TDS financial year option, select “Live accounts” if your fixed deposit is still on-going. Or select “Closed account” if your FD has matured during the financial year.
6. Once selected, the screen will show you the details of your fixed deposits. Select the financial year from the drop-down menu. Click on the “Submit” tab.
7. After submission, the request for TDS enquiry will be generated along with a reference number.
8. TDS certificate will be available under the “Download” tab within 30 minutes. Only the fixed deposit accounts will be displayed on this page.
9. Once processed, click on “Request ID” to download or view the TDS certificate under the “Download” tab.
10. Note that you can generate Form 16A for the previous and current financial years.
How to download interest certificate for SBI savings account and FDs
You can download the interest certificate for the SBI savings account and FDs if you have the facility of SBI online net banking. Below is the step by step process to download interest certificate for SBI.
1. Visit the SBI Official website (www.onlinesbi.com).
2. Login to your account by using your user ID and password.
3. Once logged in to your account, select the “My Certificate” link under the “e-Services” tab.
4. Click on the “Interest Certificate of Deposit A/Cs”. It will show you the interest paid to your savings account and FD accounts in a particular financial year
5. Click on the “View / Download in PDF” to download the TDS certificate.
Final Thoughts
You can get Form 16A, interest certificate for SBI, either by visiting the bank branch or by downloading these certificates from the SBI website. However, the procedure to download Form 16A, Interest Certificate from SBI website is easy.
