BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money) is a payment app. It was developed by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). NPCI is an umbrella organisation for operating retail payments and settlement systems in India. In this post, I will tell you how to use BHIM App.
BHIM App was launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi at Digi Dhan Mela at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi on December 30, 2016.

What is BHIM App?
BHIM is a super easy complete payment solution app. It lets you make simple, easy and quick cashless transactions using UPI (Unified Payments Interface) through your mobile phone. It is a popular UPI app.
UPI is a single window mobile payment system which facilitates the instant money transfer 24×7.
You can make bank-to-bank payments and pay and collect money using just UPI ID (Virtual Payment Address) or mobile number. You can also request money through this app from a UPI ID.

Requirements for BHIM App
You should ensure the following before you register on this app:
1. A valid Debit Card for your bank account. This is required to generate BHIM UPI PIN.
2. A registered Mobile Number with your bank account.
3. Your registered mobile number is present in the same device as the BHIM UPI App.
4. In case of Dual SIM, make sure you have selected the SIM card linked to your bank account.
How to use BHIM App?
1. First of all, download and install the App. BHIM App download for android mobile from Google Play store and for iPhone from Apple App store.
2. Select your preferred language.
3. Select the SIM card which has the mobile number registered with your bank account
4. Set the app passcode required to enter the app.
5. Link your desired bank account using bank account option.
6. Set a UPI PIN for your bank account by providing last 6 digits of debit card and expiry date of debit card.
7. Your account is now registered and ready to use.
8. Your mobile number is your Payment Address.
9. Now, you can simply start transacting. Send or request money and go cashless.
10. Done! It is that simple.
How to send Money?
1. Open the App.
2. Click on send money option.
3. Enter UPI address or mobile number.
4. Click on the “Submit” tab.
Tasks through BHIM App
You can perform following tasks through this app:
Send Money
Send money by entering UPI ID (Virtual Payment Address), Account number, or by scanning a QR code.
Request Money
You can request money from other UPI users by entering your BHIM UPI ID. Additionally, you can also transfer money using mobile number. Mobile number should be registered with BHIM or *99# and account should be linked.
Scan & Pay
Make payments quicker by scanning the QR code of the person you want to send money to. Share your QR code to let others make payments to you as well.
Transactions
Your UPI passbook on your fingertips. Allows you to download and filter your transaction history. You can also raise disputes in case of failed/pending transactions here.
Profile
Manage your UPI profile to switch your UPI ID. Share your QR code or download it in the profile section. You can also share the QR code using various messenger apps like WhatsApp, Email etc. available on phone.
Bank Account
Switch between multiple bank accounts linked with the app. You can set/change your BHIM UPI PIN or check your bank balance and transactions details on the go.
Privacy
You can disable and enable mobilenumber@upi in the profile if a secondary UPI ID is created. The QR code for the disabled UPI ID is also disabled.
Payment Reminders
You schedule payments as per your convenience.
Split Bill
You can split bills with multiple UPI users at a click of a button.
Block/ Spam
You can block/spam users who are sending you collect requests from illicit sources.
Languages supported
Currently, 20 languages supported on this app, i.e., Assamese, Bengali, Bhojpuri, English, Gujarati, Haryanvi, Hindi, Kannada, Khasi, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Marwari, Mizo, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.

What are the charges for transacting?
This simple and reliable service is totally free. NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India) does not charge any user for transacting on this app. Kindly ask your bank for their charges.
Transaction limit
The transaction limit is Rs.40,000 per transaction and per day. Please note that your Bank’s transaction limit may vary from BHIM limit.
